To promote and encourage people with and without physical disabilities to come together on equal terms, to achieve complete inclusion within the wider community and to make more of life together

Volunteering options :

Supporting Clubs :

Thanks almost entirely to the dedication and enthusiasm of people like you, Phab is able to carry out its programme of activities throughout the year.

What ever your interest and strengths someone somewhere needs you.

If you have a few hours to give each week you would be made very welcome at your local club*

You could not only share your experiences but you could gain some new ones too !

For your nearest Phab club please contact your Regional contact - click here

Many volunteers decide to use their Phab experience towards completing their Duke of Edinburgh Award. Many people also include this information on their CV when applying to college or university.

Attending PhabKids Integrated Living Experiences (ILX):

If you have time to spare during the summer then the PhabKids Integrated Living Experience could offer you the chance to develop to skills whilst being a buddy to a group of youngsters on a residential activity holiday.

Volunteering background information :

Who can apply (attendees)?

The projects are for all disabled and non-disabled children and young people between the ages of 9 and 18 years who live in all parts of Great Britain. You do not need to be a Phab Club member and we welcome referrals and applications from Social Services Departments. We recommend that you return your application forms by March if you are applying for the summer projects.

How large are the Projects?

Each one is for up to 40 people, this usually consists of around 17 – 25 children and 15 – 18 staff and volunteers. The numbers of places available depends on the individual needs of the applicants each year.

Where are they held?

We use accessible centres in the Lake District and Devon.

How do I volunteer?

A team of volunteers participates in each of the projects.

  • You need to be over 16 years old
  • Attend a training/induction day
  • Undergo a Criminal Records Bureau check (Phab can process at no cost to yourself)

We receive many thanks and letters over the years. This is just one example from a young volunteer helper:

I would like to say that never having worked with Phab before I was very impressed with the way the holiday was organised, the philosophy of Phab and all the hard work that I know you must have put in to the organisation and smooth running of the week. It really was a pleasure and a privilege to be involved. I will certainly do my very best to be available in future if you would like to have me.
